This wiki page asks teachers to consider...
what they can do to embrace Pacific Island/Māori culture as Pasifika/Māori children transition into
their classrooms at Freyberg High school?

Whilst cultural considerations in/outside the classroom are infinite, one of the easiest and most heart-warming ways of demonstrating an inclusive cultural approach is to display Māori and Pasifika: art, posters, photographs, travel brochures and student work etc. on the walls of your classroom.

"Schools, teachers and other students need to support Pacific learners to ‘be themselves’ and to see themselves and their culture reflected’ in the classroom (Fergusson et al, 2008, cited in Statistics NZ (2010) Report of Pacific Peoples and Education in NZ).
